Upcoming Cancer Screenings & Seminars
The Cancer Center at Denton Regional is dedicated to the fight against cancer. Education and early detection play an important role in the effective treatment of cancer, which is why we are pleased to be a ble to present the following programs:
July 29: "What you need to know about Thyroid Cancer", 6:00 pm
Carolyn Garner, MD, a Cleveland Clinic trained Endocrine Surgeon, will present a short discussion on thyroid cancer and offer free thyroid ultrasound screenings. Reservations are required by calling 940.898.0629.
August 10: "Making Sense of Cancer Treatments", 6:00pm
Gus Gonzalez, MD, Medical Oncologist with The Cancer Center at Denton Regional, will discuss cancer detection, diagnostics tools, and the latest available treatments. Session will be held in the Community Room, Professional Office Building. Reservations are required by calling 940.898.0629.

The Heart Matters program offers educational opportunities provided by top cardiovascular experts in various areas related to heart health, such as heart attack prevention, heart healthy lifestyles, and responding to cardiac emergencies. Childbirth and Breastfeeding Classes
Childbirthing and breastfeeding classes are available to all parents delivering at Denton Regional Medical Center. Classes are taught by childbirth educators and cover the basics of labor and delivery, techniques for coping with labor, and other topics surrounding childbirth, including a tour of the labor and delivery suites. I CAN COPE Educational Series for Women facing Cancer
Denton Regional and Solis Women's Health in partnership with the American Cancer Society presents this series of Educational Classes for Women facing Cancer. Participants may come to one or all of the sessions but pre-registration is encouraged. A light snack will be provided each session. The I Can Cope program gives participants an opportunity to share their concerns with others having similar experiences and to design ways to cope with the challenges that arise from a cancer diagnosis.
Guest speakers include professionals in the field of cancer management. In addition, videotapes, printed materials, and class discussions provide up-to-date information for patients, family, and friends.

Cancer Resource Center at Denton Regional
The Resource Center, supported by the American Cancer Society, provides many free services to the public such as breast prosthesis/bras and fittings, wigs, and written and on-line information about cancer. Adult smoking cessation support/information is also provided at no charge through the center.
